About us

NZBCA is the home of biblical counsellors serving in New Zealand

NZBCA is an association that supports biblical counsellors in New Zealand by providing initial training to  anyone interested in counselling biblically. We encourage the pursue of formal training in Biblical Counselling. We support through supervision and resources. We offer continuing education for sharpening skills, knowledge and personal growth.

History of NZBCA

NZBCA was born out from an ministry called Growth Counselling Institute.  The founder of Growth Counselling Institute (GCI), Dr Darryl Burling, recognised the lack of biblical counselling in New Zealand. While completing his PhD in Biblical Counselling, Darryl decided to launch GCI about 5 years ago.

During this time GCI ran a number of conferences and equipped a good number of believers in biblical counselling.

In January 2022 is was decided to rebrand GCI to reflect our modified vision.

This has resulted in developing a larger Board of directors and appointment of a part time CEO.
