Membership

NZBCA operates on a membership system. Our members are in various categories according to the training and counselling experience.  The categories are listed below.
The various categories is useful as our members get focused support depending upon the category that they are in. It also gives the member who is starting off on the Biblical counselling journey a pathway of growth and development.
Our standard members pay a subscription of $20 p/mth ($240 annually) to be a member of NZBCA.

Standard member

Standard members are members of NZBCA who are either new to Biblical counselling or wanting support in their current church.

These members have completed a new member form and are paying $20 per month either monthly or annually.

The benefits of standard membership with NZBCA include:

  • Bi-monthly ‘book review’ video calls facilitated by Dr Darryl Burling. This involves a range of highly recommended biblical counselling books
  • Bi-monthly ‘Practical Assistance’ video meetings facilitated by Dr Peter Reynolds. These discuss current counselling issues (confidentially) and other relevant biblical counselling matters
  • Weekly emails including links to articles, NZBCA news and other relevant news.
  • One day workshops when available in your region, as well as an annual conference.

Once membership has past 6 months, there will also be access to:

  •  one-on-one support
  • ‘practicums’ which involve specific learning of a variety of biblical counselling skills such as listening, law, and self-management
  • sanctification project which involves indepth work on a specific sin

Our standard members are encouraged to pursue formal Biblical Counselling either locally through Grace Theological College or other overseas training centers.

Student member

Students members of NZBCA are those members who have embarked on formal Biblical counselling training.

NZBCA have partnered with Grace Theological College  (GTC) who are based in Auckland. GTC have an online Biblical counselling course that we recommend.

NZBCA recognise formal training that is offered by overseas providers, whose courses are either ACBC (Association of Certified Biblical Counsellors) or CCEF (Christian Counseling and Education Foundation).

Student members pay no fees as we recognise the financial commitment to study.

Student members are invited to participate in the Standard member benefits (excluding the  one-on-one support, practicums and sanctification project as these will be supplied by your training center).

Partner member

Partner members are members who have completed and gained a qualification in Biblical Counselling.

There is no fees for being a partner members of NZBCA. Rather these members are willing to be involved in the development of newer members and other operational aspects of NZBCA.

The opportunities of involvement extend across the spectrum of NZBCA membership and operation. This may include such things as receiving referrals, running workshops, operational support and assisting with one-on-one support.

Partner members are also welcome to participate in the benefits of standard membership (with exclusions as per student members).

Members reviews

I have gained so much that I wish I had known about NZBCA earlier. I can also recommend the counselling practicums because, my understanding of true Biblical counselling has greatly increased, and I am becoming equipped with new and life-changing skills. I thank God for the difference NZBCA has made in my life.

I am a work in progress, so everything from listening well, to note taking to asking good questions, knowing my bible better and seeking to love people, know them and help them know what Gods wants for them…I don’t know where (this training) will lead me, but to be equipped and ready for whatever God has for me is exciting.
